Matrona ‘the Mother’ is known in Britain from altars and inscriptions to ‘the mothers’ and ‘the matronae’ and in medieval Welsh literature appears as the mother of Mabon ‘the Son’. In the Peniarth manuscript 147 Modron is named as the daughter of the King of Annwn and in the triads as the daughter of Afallach.
