Maponos ‘the Son’ is a God youth, hunting and music known from altars and inscriptions mainly in northern Britain. In medieval Welsh literature He is the son of Modron ‘the Mother’. He is taken from Her when He is three nights old is found in a ‘house of stone’. Modron is the daughter of the King of Annwn. Further Annuvian associations for Maponos are found in His invocation alongside andedion ‘underworld spirits on the Tablet of Chamalières.
